jeremy was born in philadelphia, pennsylvania on january 18th, 1986.

he was raised in gettysburg, pennsylvania, where he took a strong interest in music from an early age. he learned piano, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, mandolin, and banjo during his adolescent years; exploring and absorbing canonical classical music, loud experimental music, and traditional appalachian music in parallel.

at age eighteen he attended berklee college of music in boston for four years, where he studied orchestral composition, guitar and piano, and considered dropping out almost every day. while remaining there he worked full-time at the school’s main performance hall, which initiated his interest in the electrical aspects of sound, recording and show production. he also worked part-time at the boston symphony orchestra hall during his last two years. seeing nightly performances at these two venues provided a wide range of additional formative musical experiences.

following this era he moved to san francisco without a plan, to discover california and find a life making music. constant relocation, countless odd jobs, opportunity, dead ends, misfortune, bon vivant euphoria, intuitive decisionmaking, fleeting satisfaction, and relentless effort eventually coalesced into a relatively stable, if kaleidoscopic, life of studio work and touring.
